Moree makes me realise why I'm doing this
So today we protested at the Moree swimming pool, because Aborginal people are denied entry into the pool due to the Moree council laws. We withdrew a lot to do this, Angry residents were one of the worse parts of the strike. A huge crowd appeared and most were angry residents. This led to three hours of trying to negate with the law, there were fights and people were knocked down. we had rotten eggs and fruit pegged at us for protesting out there. It was worth it to have the aboriginal people granted to swim in that pool, and we did succeed at first, the pool said as long if the aboriginal people were clean, they would be granted access to use of the pool. It was good while we were there, the kids were loving it, but as soon as we left, the aboriginal kids were kicked out and not allowed in again. We made a difference for a little bit but as soon as we turned our back, the people changed again and blocked the entry of use to the swimming pool to the aboriginal people. I would like to thank everyone reading my blog to agreeing to make a difference because aboriginal people don't deserve this appalling behaviour.

The day in Walgett......
Well today didn't quite go as planned, we targeted areas in Walgett where Racial discrimination is horrible in the area, which is why we went to the Rsl to protest first. They even excluded aborginies who had fought in the war! If the aborigines lucky they got to go inside, one day a year, but then still hardly any aborigines were allowed in. The good thing about the protest is that we did gain some media coverage! which can help on our campaign. We set up banners and Charlie Perkins was the one who talked to the "mixed" crowd, most people were frustrated, especially the nearby residents. Then when we left in the middle of the night on the bus. We had been travelling on the road out when we were closely followed by a truck of a local graziers son, and later he ran us off the road. The car just left like it was okay, because we supported aboriginal people. We got in the paper at least. Hoping people change their act because apparently aborigines are animals, but this behaviour is atrocious because this is the behaviour of animals. I will update you when i reach Moree, which i am not looking forward to now after this act of stupidity. I know that the reputation at Moree is quite horrible too. wish me luck please.
First day done! Help to make a difference to the discrimination of Aboriginal people.
So today we went to Orange and then to Wellington where we conducted surveys with aborigines and people who weren't, as you'll see in the picture below. we surveyed to try and get answers and suggestions and while we were there, we went around and observed at the different living conditions of the aborginals compared to the non-aborginals. I am just hoping we Educated people, because all of the "white" peoples house are fabulous to be quite honest. They had decorative furniture and electricity, what more could you ask for? Then there's the Aborigines homes which was basically if lucky an old rusty shed. Many live in a on the outskirts of town in shacks and tin sheds, they had no running water or electricity available. All the students were shocked with the living conditions which the aborigines faced.) They are refused service in shops and refused drinks in hotels. tomorrow we are heading to Gulargambone and then to Walgett where will conducted even more surveys! Some of you may not be aware but aborigines are barred from clubs and other organisations, such as pools and the Rsl, Which we are hoping to tackle at Walgett Rsl.
To our knowledge Walgett is one of the worst towns in New South Wales for reputation of racism towards aboriginal people. The other really appalling towns are Moree and Kemspey. I will update you once i arrive to Walgett with hopefully good news, I look forward to updating.

Racial Discrimination, help make a difference!
I'm getting excited, in the one more week I will be leaving Sydney on the 12th to embark on a new adventure. After Charles Perkins suggested the SAFA go around New South Wales to the towns with the worst reputation for racism, to give them knowledge and hopefully change their racist views. A lot of people thought Charles was crazy to suggest it, and to be honest i believed that at first too. I am one of thirty-three students joining the ride to end the raical discrimination. I am not aboriginal myself, and yet I still believe the aboriginal families should deserve every right that us white people have. They should be able to raise a child, without the white people taking them away and devastating the poor families and ruining their culture. which is why I have joined because i was to help aboriginal people to have rights and their freedom. I thought it was so inspirational to see how much it really means to these people and surprisingly the Freedom ride will have participants (Charles Perkins and the Freedom Rides N.D) that aren't aboriginal I will update everyone as Igo along, and please share and read these posts to give us a better chance to creating aboriginal freedom. We leave on the twelfth of February to arrive at our first destination so we should be at Orange on the 13th and we should cover Wellington on the same day if on schedule, and I will update my blog with information once I arrive.
This is the route which us freedom riders will take as seen on the above picture.
