The day in Walgett......

Well today didn't quite go as planned, we targeted areas in Walgett where Racial discrimination is horrible in the area, which is why we went to the Rsl to protest first. They even excluded aborginies who had fought in the war! If the aborigines lucky they got to go inside, one day a year, but then still hardly any aborigines were allowed in. The good thing about the protest is that we did gain some media coverage! which can help on our campaign. We set up banners and Charlie Perkins was the one who talked to the "mixed" crowd, most people were frustrated, especially the nearby residents. Then when we left in the middle of the night on the bus. We had been travelling on the road out when we were closely followed by a truck of a local graziers son, and later he ran us off the road. The car just left like it was okay, because we supported aboriginal people. We got in the paper at least. Hoping people change their act because apparently aborigines are animals, but this behaviour is atrocious because this is the behaviour of animals. I will update you when i reach Moree, which i am not looking forward to now after this act of stupidity. I know that the reputation at Moree is quite horrible too. wish me luck please.

  1. How stupid is the discrimination in these country towns? Or more accurately, everywhere in Australia. It's so great that we got media coverage after this protest, even if not all of it was in our favour. Hopefully we can raise awareness and maybe change some people's minds on this subject. The Aboriginal race is highly discriminated and we’ve all had enough of it. I really do hope that we can make a difference for these people and give them the basic human rights that they deserve. Wishing us luck in Moree!
